Yaacov Agam is worldwide famous Israeli artist. He deals with optical and kinetic art. His discoveries became so famous, that one type of prints, that uses barrier-grid animation, was named after the artist – “Agamograph”. Yaacov Agam invites viewers into the labyrinths of color transformations and their reflections. Spectators reflect on artistic creations and enter into their imagination, inspired by the artist’s mind.

Kiddush is “an act of sanctification”. Specifically, it is a blessing, that is read over wine or grape juice to sanctify the Shabbat and Jewish holidays. It is one of the central rituals of Shabbat. The person who recites Kiddush drinks a couple sips of the wine and then passes the cup to guests around the table, or pours it into cups for each person.

Yaacov Agam has created 925 sterling silver Kiddush cup with 24k gold plated which fits inside the revolving Agam serigraph contained in the Lucite cylinder.

Images of figures and the shape of the Agam Kiddush cup form many different geometric pictures. Moreover, depending on the angle from the spectator is looking at the Kiddush cup, he sees various images. Also, colors used by Yaacov Agam, are chosen for a reason and organize fluent passage. The transition of tints produces the impression of motion. The art of Yaacov Agam originates energy and atmosphere.

The artist works with optical illusions. In all his works spectators participate in the result of the artistic creation and influence it. Becuase of the line composition and the features of the Lucite cylinder, geometric figures on the Kiddush cup seem to be volumetric. Due to its glass material, Kiddush cup would harmoniously complement the style of any place and would supplement Shabbat service.
