Chasid by Ora Nissim

Ora Nissim is a contemporary Israeli artist, famous for the depictions of Jerusalem and its inhabitants. Grown up in the ultra orthdox neighborhood “Mea Shearim”, the painter depicts “colorfulness, feeling, movement and joy that are hidden behind that black clothing”. In particular, the artist has described her art: she paints “Judaism today and in the future”, not “Judaism of the past”.

“Chasid portrait”

The old man with the deep penetrating look. Chasid is lost in his prayer. Using a combination of stains and paints, Nissim creates flaming, luminous background. Especially in the colorful painting she shows the joy of the G-ds worship. The chasid dissolves in the bright flashes.

“The Chavruta”

The painter depicts three figures enthusiastically studying Talmud. More specifically, Chavruta is a traditional rabbinic approach to learn in a small group of students, who analyze and discuss a shared text. Vivid colors encircle the figures, reminding magical sparks. Probably, it is the energy that comes from the chasids.

“Hasidic fiddler”

The luminous figure of the musician is almost flying in dreams and passion. Moreover, he closed eyes and has put himself in the melody. The music is the language he uses to speak about the faith, love and sense.

You can find a large selection of other artworks created by Ora Nissim in Kings Gallery. She shows the prayers, that are the moments of the highest power.  Also, the artist creates different images of enchated Jerusalem. As she wrote: “Each day in Jerusalem has its story, its atmosphere, and its primary color”. Furthermore, Ora Nissim shows living Jerusalem of today, the language of crossing cultures and mysteries. Therefore, her paintings have broad spectrum of colors, they are full of emotions. Despite the fact, that Ora Nissim is the innoative and successful modern artist, she is a poet.
