Art by Albert Goldman

Albert Goldman was born in 1922 in Egypt. He studied art in Alexandria. In 1951, the painter immigrated to Israel, there he spent all his subsequent life depicting the natural beauty of the country. In particular, his works has unique shine, that together with light colors create perception of calmness and peace. For instance, his “Rabbi” seems to be carried away by thoughts. He holds a Torah scroll in his left hand. Probably, Goldman depicted a moment during the prayer after the Torah reading. A fluffy fur hat (kolpik) beautifully corresponds with rabbi’s enlightened gray beard. Interestingly, there are three kinds of Hasidic fur hats: spodiks, kolpiks, and shtreimels.

Flowers by Albert Goldman

Our gallery has two Goldman’s still lifes. “Vase of flowers” is so fresh, that if one tried to divide this painting into two parts, the upper one would seem to be a summer field. The magical light is coming from the middle of the bouquet. Lit bright flowers appear to emit the warmth and admiration of nature. Besides, this depiction is so living, that it is difficult to call it “still”. Another artwork “Flowers” is like a splash. Especially, blue petals envelope yellow irises and scatter around the room. Goldman conveyed the feeling of the wind and, maybe, even refreshing spring flavours.

In addition, take a look at realistic “Bouquet Tricolore” by Moïse Kisling, a central member of the School of Paris.
